Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi and his team are very confident of getting a common symbol for the party, though they have completely bungled the issue.

“Wait till April 23, when our candidates will have to mention the party name and symbol in the nomination papers. You will see that they will all mention the common name and common symbol,” PRP leader Parakala Prabhakar said.

One wonders what the reason for their confidence could be. According to sources, one of the top officials in the Election Commission suggested a way out for the PRP leaders: that they move the Supreme Court again on a different contention that a registered political party of a state has every right to ask for a common symbol allotted to another regional party in another state.

So, PRP can ask for the symbol allotted to Sikkim Democratic Front, since the latter is not a recognised party in Andhra Pradesh. That way, EC will have no other option but to give that common symbol to the PRP!
